This corundum is turned to blue sapphire when it contains iron and titanium. A mineral called corundum forms inside these rocks and chills into crystals. When molten rock cools slowly under the earth’s surface, coarse-grained igneous rocks are formed. Red sapphires are better known as rubies. What a lot of people don’t know, however, is that sapphires actually come in every colour of the rainbow pink, yellow, orange and even green included. ![]() One thing we do know September’s got going for it, though, is its birthstone – the sapphire!Ī favourite of ours here at Lebrusan Studio, the sapphire is best known for its rich royal blue variety. Autumn is upon us and we’re not sure how we feel about it.
